Hairdressing equipment

How to choose salon equipment

• Haircuts - a cordless clipper for use at the chair and a trimmer for outlining. Check whether replacement blades are available for the model.
• Drying - a handheld dryer with a power of approx. 2000-2400 W and ionic technology for the workstation, and a hood dryer on a stand or wall-mounted for perms and coloring.
• Styling - a flat iron with adjustable temperature, a hot air brush, a crimper.
• Hair treatments - an infrared processor speeds up coloring and conditioning treatments; a hairdressing sauna moisturizes hair with steam, and some models have ozone.
• Tidiness - a hair salon vacuum for clippings and a steam brush cleaner.

What it's useful for

For hair salons, barber shops, and hairdressing schools. Stand-mounted equipment (hood dryers, infrared processors, saunas) is easy to move between workstations; wall-mounted versions save space.

Frequently asked questions

• Infrared processor or hairdressing sauna? An infrared processor heats with infrared lamps and shortens the time needed for coloring and treatments. A sauna generates steam and is used to moisturize and restore hair. W salons offering a full range of hair treatments, both are useful.
• Stand-mounted or wall-mounted hood dryer? A stand-mounted model is mobile and requires no installation. A wall-mounted model attaches to the wall and doesn't take up floor space, but requires a permanent spot by the chair.
• Do clippers have replaceable blades? Most models do - replacement blades are in the same collection as the clippers.
• How do you care for a hair dryer? Clean the air filter regularly, as a clogged filter overheats the motor and shortens the device's lifespan.
